HISTORY — Singapore band TWANG BAR KINGS. Founded 1989. Gigs at Substation, Marina Bay, etc. Demo cassette WITCHDOCTOR 1991. Leslie Low also in Humpback Oak, The Observatory. Don Bosco also in Daze, Peculiar Remedies. 2006: second demo, recorded early-90s, recovered. Website launched. More MP3s to come.

UPDATES — 15 September 2006

“Before all our cassette masters die on us, we’ve decided to archive them digitally. In the process, we’ve uncovered an album worth of material that was not put out. This documents the period after Witchdoctor and before Humpback’s Pain-Stained Morning.

These songs were recorded in my bedroom at Normanton Park. Don and I recorded the basic rhythm parts first. Usually I would play drums and he would play the bass. Followed by overdubbing of the guitars and vocals afterwards.

To my surprise, upon listening to them again, I realised that I have always remembered Twang Bar Kings by these batch of songs. They represent accurately how the band was like. Just two guys trying to live the rock and roll teenage dream despite the fact that we could never find a bass player to commit. — LL”
